One person was killed when the truck he was travelling in plunged into a gorge at Umling along national highway 6 in Ri Bhoi district last night.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number WB 23E 5691 was transporting silicon rocks.
The deceased has been identified as Sonatan Kormokai of Lalpuri, West Bengal. The driver of the truck, 26-year old Tapash Roy of Trimohaini in Hili, West Bengal is said to be critical.
