One person was injured and another escaped unhurt when a pine tree fell on their vehicle, following heavy rains.
The incident took place around 11 am when a pine tree located inside the Raj Bhavan premises fell on the ADC quarters. While no one was hurt in the quarters, the tree which landed on the road damaged a vehicle and injuring one of it’s occupant.
The injured who was driving the vehicle was identified as Deepen Bhattacharjee. His father Ajay Bhattacharjee escaped unhurt. Both were rushed to the Shillong Civil Hospital.
The tree also damaged electricity poles. Presently personnel from the Fire and Emergency Service, the MeECL and Forest department are involved in clearing the tree.
