An awareness-cum-training programme on areca nut was held at Tangmang village, which was organised by the AROH Foundation and the HDFC Bank Ltd under convergence with KVK, East Khasi Hills yesterday.
The resource person at the programme was B. Chyne. She said the training programme would benefit farmers in terms of improving their areca nut plantations and also in processing. B. Lyngdoh taught farmers on how areca leaf can be made into plates, spoons and bowls and others that are eco-friendly.
Project Co-ordinator of the foundation, Alacrity M Warjri, headman of Tangmang, S. Khonglam and others were present at the programme.
