With the aim to encourage the cultivation of organic mustard, the Ri Lajong Farmers Produce Organisation of Ri-Bhoi and the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences at Umiam organised a training programme for farmers today.
Farmers from across the district took part in the programme, which was led by the college’s professors, including Dr A.K Singh and Dr Sanjay Swami as the resource persons.
They also enlightened the farmers about the encouragement that the central government is giving to farmers to cultivate organic mustard and boost the production of the crop.
The Ri Lajong Farmers Produce Organization distributed mustard seeds to the farmers while the college handed out sowing machines as a part of encouraging them to go for organic cultivation of mustard in Ri-Bhoi.
