Shillong, Dec 7: People travelling from Meghalaya to Guwahati may face delays on Monday due to the Post Malone concert scheduled to be held at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara.
Guwahati Traffic Police have announced traffic restrictions and parking rules across major city routes ahead of the concert to ensure public safety, prevent congestion and allow smooth movement for emergency vehicles during the event.
From 10am commercial goods vehicles and slow-moving vehicles will face restrictions on key routes to Khanapara, including GS Road from Sixmile underpass to Khanapara Rotary, the Sixmile–Balughat route via Jayanagar Chariali and connecting roads through Beltola and APSC Point.
Additional restrictions will start at 3pm near Prison Gate Point, Koinadhara Point, KV Khanapara and NH-27 service lanes, remaining in place until the concert ends or as directed by authorities.
Parking will be prohibited along busy stretches, including GS Road (Sixmile Underpass to Khanapara Rotary), Jayanagar Chariali, Tripura Gali, APSC Point and parts of NH-27 up to Greenwood Resort.
Designated parking areas for concert-goers include Krishi Bhawan, Jyoti Vishnu Auditorium, the Veterinary College campus, Indian Oil Khanapara, Mukut Parking, Basistha Mandir Path, NERIM and others based on arrival routes.
Two-wheeler parking has been arranged at Beltola Bihutoli, Veterinary College campus, and Kirloskar Hybrid Engineering in Jayanagar.
Authorities clarified that emergency services, essential supply vehicles, school buses and local resident movements will not be affected. Citizens are advised to use the foot overbridge near Vivanta Hotel for safe GS Road crossings. The traffic police have also urged the public to follow their official social media handles for real-time updates on traffic and parking.
