To ensure smooth flow of traffic when the votes of the Lok Sabha polls will be counted on June 4, the East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills superintendent of police has specific traffic arrangements in their respective districts.
In East Khasi Hills, No entry has been marked from Golflink tri-junction towards Polo. From this junction, vehicles coming from Mawroh will be diverted towards Tiara Restaurant junction— Pynthorumkhrah —Assam Dairy junction — Wahumkhrah Bridge (near rear gate of JN Complex) and beyond while vehicles coming from Shyiap / Tiara Restaurant junction will be diverted towards Mawroh and beyond.
No entry has also been marked from Golf Club junction towards Polo. Vehicles will be diverted towards Golf Link Tri-Jn. — Tiara Restaurant junction and beyond. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter from Lumjingshai junction towards CRPF junction, but vehicles will be diverted towards Lawmali — Polo Market — 4th Furlong / Polo Towers junction.
Lumjingshai junction towards Forest Colony has also been marked as no entry and vehicles will be diverted towards Lawmali — Polo Market — 4th Furlong / Polo Towers junction. Similarly, No Entry will be imposed from Polo Point towards CRPF junction. From here vehicles will be diverted towards Matri Mandir junction/ Lawmali.
From the junction near Merin’s Restaurant towards Polo, vehicles will be diverted towards Golf Club junction — Tiara Restaurant junction.
The traffic regulation will be effective from 8 am of June 4.
The SP said no parking will be imposed around the Polo agglomeration from 6 am till the counting of vote. Plying of heavy motor vehicles including buses around Polo will also be strictly prohibited
Only vehicles with pass and of Emergency Service will be facilitated.
In West Jaintia Hills, no entry zones have been marked that will be effective from 7 am onwards. These roads are from Thomas Jones junction towards DC office, Tpep-Pale towards lawmusiang, Mission Compound road towards lawmusiang, H.K. Singh tri-junction, Dawki Stand.
Vehicles coming from Riatsiatsim will be diverted towards Mynthong, while those coming from Khimmusniang/Jrisalein will be diverted to Chutwakhu road and vehicles coming from New Hill /Shillong Road will be diverted to Kynruh Saphlang and Thomas Jones.
The SP said all four parking lots at lawmusiang will be evacuated from 7 am onwards.
