Three people were allegedly assaulted and cars vandalised by BSF personnel on duty at in Sonapyrdi (Sonapur) checkpost in East Jaiñtia Hills.
The incident reportedly happened on April 20 at 9 pm near the Huroi junction.
While no FIR has been filed on the incident, the Khasi Students Union (KSU) stated that the persons were beaten up by drunken BSF personnel without any reason even they smashed two cars.
KSU, East Jaiñtia Hills District unit general secretary KS Suchiang stated that atrocities committed on the locals are common. He said the union has many times written to the district administration to remove the BSF camp from the area, which has caused insecurity to the people.
Suchiang said the KSU has scheduled an executive committee meeting tomorrow to press on their demand to remove the BSF camp from Sonapyrdi.
