The Central government today notified the appointment of Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew as Acting Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.
Justice Thangkhiew will take over as Acting Chief Justice after the retirement of Chief Justice S Vaidyanathan on August 16.
A notification to this effect was published by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
On July 11, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the name of Justice Tashi Rabstan as the new Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. He is expected to take over next week.
Justice Rabstan is currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh High Court.
