In the spirit of spreading ideas that will transform our community within the state of Meghalaya as a whole, BDW International School Shillong is hosting the very first edition of TEDxBDW Intl School.
It is the first school level TEDx event being hosted in the city, with the sole purpose of discussing and spreading ideas that will transform different facets of our region.
It is being conducted on 18th November, 2023. With an eclectic mix of student and adult speakers, TEDxBDW Intl School will feature talks on several pertinent themes related to Meghalaya including climate, traffic, our food, and other ideas that need more discussion and outreach. It will also have one talk in Khasi – the first on a TEDx platform!
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. It is a global set of conferences run by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, under the slogan “Ideas Worth Spreading.” TED Talks are influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, tech, and creativity, which are made available to the public for free. These talks cover a wide array of topics and are known for their thought-provoking and inspiring content, delivered by renowned and amazing speakers globally.
TEDx conferences are independently organized events under the auspices of TED. Receiving a license from TED, they have numerous speakers delivering TED talks. Thousands of TEDx conferences take place globally, and TEDxBDW Intl School is the first TEDx event being hosted by a school in Shillong.
Sreevidya Vinay, host of the event and Principal – BDW International School Shillong, said ‘TEDx is one of the world’s most prestigious global platforms and is all about ‘ideas worth spreading’. This is our small effort in the direction of furthering important ideas that will transform our society’.
