NPP national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that talks are on for merger of the PDF with NPP.
Speaking to media persons here today, Sangma said that there has been no final conclusion yet on the discussion for the proposed merger.
“Discussions are taking place but as I said there is no final conclusion or anything yet. Therefore, we will wait and see when the time comes,” Sangma said.
Earlier, PDF president and Sohra MLA Gavin Mylliem had said that talks are on for his party’s merger with the NPP although the matter is yet to be finalised.
Recently, sources said that the PDF which has two MLAs may merge with the NPP ahead of the May 10 election to Sohiong Assembly constituency.
Sources also said that after the merger, the PDF may be given a berth in cabinet and the UDP may lose at least one cabinet berth.
If NPP wins from Sohiong, the UDP may lose its two cabinet berths, sources said.
