Shillong, Oct 17: A two-day national symposium on ‘Energy and Natural Resources of North-East India with Special Reference to Atomic and Critical Minerals’ concluded at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), here.
The event was organised by the Department of Geology, NEHU that brought together eminent scientists, policymakers, academicians, and industry leaders to deliberate on sustainable mineral exploration and energy development strategies in the North Eastern Region, in line with India’s vision of self-reliance in critical and atomic minerals.
The sessions provided an interactive platform for students, early-career researchers, and geoscientists to showcase their innovative work on uranium and rare earth mineralization, geophysical and geochemical exploration techniques, and sustainable energy solutions.
The symposium also featured poster presentations, featuring the research contributions of students, research scholars, and early-career scientists from across the country. Participants actively interacted with the presenters, exchanging ideas on methodologies, interpretations, and applications of their findings. The discussion-oriented atmosphere encouraged constructive feedback from experts and fostered collaboration among emerging researchers, underscoring the symposium’s role in nurturing the next generation of geoscientists.
