The Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Ainam Manik Syiem, has filed an FIR with police after a recording of a private conversation he had held was circulated during the common election platform held yesterday at Liarsluid village in Umroi constituency.
In his complaint, Syiem stated that the dissemination of the voice recording has negatively impacted his personal and social standing as the traditional head of Hima Mylliem.
An individual from Nongrim Nongladaw village released a voice recording of a conversation between the Syiem and one of his relatives, allegedly using it for personal gain in the context of the MDC election campaign.
In the complaint, Syiem asserted that the conversation over the mobile phone was private and concerned matters that were not meant for public disclosure. However, the said individual took advantage of the situation and released the recording to the media.
