South West Khasi Hills has borne much of the brunt of heavy rain and strong winds, which have left a trail of destruction in Ranikor block yesterday.
According to reports, a school and 23 households were severely affected, with 10 homes damaged in Nongkdait, 10 in Puksora and three in Ranikor.
A landslide also occurred at Alukureng, with cleaning operations underway at the time of filing this report.
No injuries or fatalities were reported. Temporary arrangements have been made by the villagers to accommodate the affected households.
The whole of Meghalaya remains under a yellow alert in the latest Indian Meteorological Department forecast for Monday.
