The Sub-Foreign Post Office (SFPO) was inaugurated at Shillong GPO by CPMG, NE Circle Shillong Sanjiv Ranjan and Commissioner Custom M Rahman today.
A foreign sub-post office is a post office that handles international mail and parcels. It also provides customs facilities for the examination, assessment, and clearance of goods.
These post offices are opened mainly for the convenience of senders and addressees who may be required to present documents/Merchandise for the release or dispatch of their foreign articles.
With the inauguration of the sub-foreign post office, the GPO hopes to bring citizen-centric governance to people by bridging the gap between the local and global community.
