A two-day awareness programme on innovative construction technologies and thermal comfort for affordable housing named RACHNA (Resilient, Affordable and Comfortable Housing through National Action) was held for students of the Architecture department of the North Eastern Hill University.
The programme was organised by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in partnership with GIZ and Building Material and Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC).
A statement from the university here said that this is one-of-its-kind initiative whereby students will be introduced to thermal comfort and its necessity in the affordable housing sector.
Dean School of Technology, NEHU LJ Singh inaugurated the programme and informed that Ragini Goswami, ECBC Master Trainer, will discuss with the upcoming architects on thermal comfort basics, material influences, low-cost solutions and codes that are available in India to create Climate-Smart Buildings.
GIZ representatives, Rajesh Debbarma (Team Manager & Engineer), Rahul Bose (Architect) along with Sayan Maitra (Marketing & Communication expert), informed that an architectural design problem will be given to the students, whereby they have to come up with the solutions. Once evaluated, the winner and the runners up will be awarded.
The programme was also attended by Banbhalang Swer, Teacher-in-Charge, Architecture Dept. of NEHU, along with the other faculties.
