The Post Graduate Students Union (PGSU) of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), through an official communiqué, has firmly objected to the conduct of an interview for a vacant post at the Tura campus in Guwahati instead of within the state.
The advertisement for the post of guest lecturer in forestry was made on February 11. However, the interview will be held in Guwahati.
“We discussed this with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of NEHU’s Tura campus and objected to the venue. We object and demand that the interview should be held at Tura’s NEHU campus,” said the PGSU through a release.
The student body asserted that the PVC could not provide a satisfactory explanation as to why the interview was being held in Guwahati.
“The PVC kept on saying that the interview at Guwahati is due to Covid-19 reasons. However, this practice of conducting interviews for various posts in Guwahati is an old practice by NEHU Tura even before Covid. We feel that such practices should be immediately stopped. There should be no issue in conducting interviews at NEHU Tura campus after following the necessary protocols,” the union added.
