The State government has sanctioned Rs 120 crore to upgrade block offices across Meghalaya.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also announced that the government will sanction building for 10 new C&RD blocks which were established during the tenure of the MDA government.
Inaugurating the new building of Bajengdoba Block Development Office today he said, said that the government is giving push to build rural infrastructure in the state.
Stating that 70 percent of government works at the grassroots depends on block office, he said that block office is vital for implementation of rural welfare interventions.
He said the infrastructure at the block office was in a dilapidated condition and government took the onus to upgrade block office infrastructure across the state.
“It is important that our office infrastructures are able to supplement the works of the officers. It should facilitate a conducive atmosphere for public delivery of services”, he added.
Stating that the government is committed to bring administration closer to the people, he said, “The top priority of the government is to provide services to the people. Through block offices, we want to ensure that public delivery of services is made easily accessible”.
