The East and North Garo Hills territorial division of the state forest department today dismantled a total of 17 illegally constructed shops on the roadside within the Durugre Reserve under East Garo Hills district.
As per reports from the department, eviction notices had been served to the 17 shops that were set up illegally along the NH-62. There were also five dug out wells that had been set up. The eviction notice was sent on October 6.
Following the notice by the department, most of the illegally set-up shops owners abandoned their establishment while the rest vacated their shops when the department arrived.
“All the structures were dismantled and the dugout wells closed down with the help of a JCB,” informed forest officials.
The eviction drive was carried out by the staff of Darugre Range, Simsanggre Range and Songsak Beat with the help of Police personnel.
