Agriculture Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh today said that farmers of Meghalaya are having trouble accessing the benefits of Central government schemes and programmes due to various difficult procedures.
Speaking to media persons, Lyngdoh said she would meet Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan next week to take up the issue.
According to her, there are inherent difficulties in schemes like PM Kisan where online application, registration and seeding become big challenges.
“We need to find a model that will be more friendly for the farmers of our State,” Lyngdoh said.
“Certain schemes may be suitable for states like Uttar Pradesh but it may not be suitable for Meghalaya,” she added.
Lyngdoh said that there should be some flexibility for distant states like Meghalaya.
She also said that minimum support price is also a big concern and there are even problems with the payments.
