New State BJP president Rikman Momin who took charge today said that the party would start preparations for the Lok Sabha elections as soon as the central leadership of the party gives a green signal for both the Shillong and Tura seats.
Speaking to media persons here, Momin however said that no single individual can do much without the help and support of the team and to achieve that he will work with all including the outgoing State BJP chief Ernest Mawrie.
When asked about the people’s acceptance towards the BJP party in the State, he said, “There is still hope for BJP as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working for the poor and the various schemes.”
Stating that even though the task is very challenging as the party has only two MLAs, Momin expressed hope that with a combined team effort they expect things to change for better.
Admitting that the party has not been successful in the last two Assembly elections, he however said that the BJP vote share in the State has gone up.
On the party’s stance on corruption and misgovernance in the State, the State BJP president said that being a part of the ruling MDA coalition, whenever and wherever the party found corruption and irregularities, the matters are taken up at the MDA platform.
