The Meghalaya unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) waxed lyrical about women’s empowerment and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision on the subject.
The BJP’s state women’s wing, led by its president Susuki Pariat, held a programme today at the ‘Hawkers’ Building’ in Pynthorumkhrah where top leaders listed the party’s achievements in this direction.
Under the PM, numerous women-centric schemes have been launched, the party said in a press release. “These life changing schemes bear testimony to the Modi guarantee, which says that the life of every woman will be progressive and prosperous.”
Cabinet minister and local legislator AL Hek said he had been instrumental in creating a shopping complex that gave a dignified outlet to women street vendors. “Every vendor here is a woman and has got a space free of cost, which I consider as a dream fulfilled,” he proudly stated.
The state leaders then urged Meghalaya’s women to choose BJP candidates at the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as the party is sure to return to power in Parliament, they added.
