The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of St Dominic’s College organised a massive cleaning drive campaign today as part of the “Clean India Campaign” in the adjoining areas of Iew Rynjah, Pohkseh and Nongthymmai to make the local people conscious about the necessity and benefits of cleanliness.
There were 76 NSS volunteers and two programme officers who participated in the cleaning campaign. A total of 167.6kg of plastic and other waste was collected today.
The event started at 10am with a short address by college Principal MC Paul where he reminded the volunteers that cleanliness is most important for physical wellbeing and a healthy environment and as volunteers of the NSS it is important that they must also educate others on the importance of living in a clean environment.
