Lawei Smit SC took down Mawkriah West SC 6-0 to win their first match in the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s League at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match, also in Group A, saw Kick Start Football Coaching Centre bag their maiden victory as well with a 1-0 result over Umpling SC.
The second match saw Lawei set the tone right from the get-go, with Innocia Tympuin netting a first minute goal, slotting the ball past the goalkeeper after a goal kick went straight to the Lawei No. 17.
Two goals in quick succession then followed before the half hour mark, with Fedilia Lamare (28′) converting a chance after two earlier misses. A minute later Airilang Khongsit (29′) took a shot on the run low past the keeper and the first half ended 3-0.
Barikor Kurbah found the back of the net in the 43rd minute and Khongsit (46′) scored via another low shot three minutes later. The action drifted after that until right to the end of the game when a stoppage time goal through Jidalin Tympuin saw Lawei make it 6-0.
In the earlier game, Daiamon Makroh scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute for Kick Start, which was their first goal in the four matches they have played.
Kick Start and Lawei now have 4 points each, with Lawei in third place and Kick Start in fourth based on goal difference (-3 and -8 respectively).
Tomorrow’s matches will both be in Group B. At 2:30pm Kharang SC will face Maw U-Tieng SC followed by Iasnohktilang Madanrting FC versus Synroplang 77 at 4:15pm.
