The Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya in collaboration with the office of the District Election Officer of East Khasi Hills today organised the state level function for the launch of special summary revision of photo electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2024 as the qualifying date and draft publication of photo electoral rolls.
Speaking at the programme, CEO BDR Tiwari informed that the published draft photo electoral rolls are being shared with the political parties so as to enable them to raise objections on the inclusion of non bonafide citizens, if any, in the electoral rolls for the smooth conduct of polls, as political parties are the main and important stakeholders in the whole electoral process.
The draft photo electoral rolls were also handed to representatives of the various political parties at the programme.
Meanwhile, the district election officers in South West Khasi Hills, West Jaiñtia Hills, North Garo Hills have also announced publication of the draft photo electoral roll in separate press releases today.
Claims and objections should be made on or before December 9. After processing claims and objections, the final electoral roll will be published on January 5, 2024.
