The transport cell of Sngap Syiem College, in Mawkyrwat today launched two buses to ferry students.
The routes of the buses are from Wahsiej-Mawthawpdah to Shngimawlein and from Rangmaw-Jakrem onwards.
Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar who attended the function as the chief guest said the initiative taken by the college shows that it is not only responsible to impart education but its responsibility to ease commute of students from far flung areas is laudable
MDC, Carnes Sohshang said the pickup and drop facility will encourage students to attend their studies on a regular basis.
Principal of the college, Dr. K.K. Nongsiej said in the past the college has recorded low student attendance and this is because of a number of factors like transportation fare, which those from low income families cannot afford.
He informed that the college plans to procure two more buses.
