Shillong, Jul 3: The East Khasi Hills District Election Officer has directed the Booth Level Officer to retrieve all enumeration forms that were distributed from the residence of a former legislator of West Shillong Assembly constituency.
Allegations surfaced that the BLO was found distributing enumeration forms from the residence of a former legislator on June 30, July 1, and July 2.
This issue was discussed during a meeting held by DEO Abhilash Baranwal with the representatives of political parties on Friday, to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Baranwal said that a spot inspection was conducted by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) on Thursday to ascertain facts on the grounds and the BLO supervisor has been directed to personally assist the BLO in distributing the enumeration forms to eligible electors.
Additionally, the AERO of the constituency will make a daily visit and personally monitor the distribution of enumeration form till the completion of the process.
Informing that the Booth Level Agents (BLAs) forms have been received from two national parties and one state party the DEO urged all political parties and dorbar shnongs to collaborate towards ensuring the successful completion of the SIR process.
Meanwhile, there have been 14,220 SIR enumeration forms distributed in Pynursla area alone, making it the constituency with the most progress in the electoral roll clean-up in East Khasi Hills.
The SIR began on June 30 across all 898 parts of the 15 Assembly constituencies in the district. The entire exercise of distributing forms and collecting the filled ones is scheduled to be completed by July 29.
A total of 1,09,504 enumeration forms have been distributed cumulatively across the 15 constituencies, and 3,098 forms have been digitised so far.
In Pynursla, 14,220 forms have been distributed of which 350 have been digitised. Mawryngkneng followed with 8,733 forms distributed and 139 digitised, while Mawlai saw 8,836 forms distributed and 244 digitised. Sohiong reported 8,055 forms distributed and 57 digitised and Pynthorumkhrah recorded 8,003 distributed with 83 digitised.
In the Shillong urban constituencies, West Shillong distributed 6,567 forms with 132 digitised, South Shillong distributed 6,533 forms with 147 digitised, Nongthymmai distributed 6,544 forms with 312 digitised, North Shillong distributed 5,658 forms with 128 digitised and East Shillong distributed 5,365 forms with 109 digitised.
Among rural constituencies, Mawsynram distributed 7,263 forms and digitised 341, Mawkynrew distributed 6,200 forms and digitised 319, Mawphlang distributed 6,002 forms and digitised 613, Nongkrem distributed 6,186 forms and digitised 35 and Mylliem distributed 5,339 forms with 89 digitised.
The District Election Office has reiterated that the enumeration phase focuses on verifying and updating details of existing electors as per the 2005 legacy roll and the 2025 electoral roll and is not for enrolling new voters.
