Police and the Khasi Students Union (KSU) raided a shelter home in Kenches Trace (Harrison Bridge) following the circulation of a viral video depicting illegal drug consumption.
The raid took place on Thursday evening at the home, which is owned by the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB).
During the raid, law enforcement officials discovered materials like syringes and vials that could be used in the consumption of illegal drugs. The KSU’s Laban unit alleged that the shelter home is a den of illegal activities and the SMB is not overseeing the facility properly.
No one was found present at the home during the raid, the KSU said, though it claims to have the names of the persons seen in the viral video. The pressure group has urged the SMB to post security guards at the property.
