Shillong My Passion, a government initiative to encourage community-based engagement on waste management, was re-launched by the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on October 1.
Marking the re-launch, the DC announced the launch of a series of events, community programmes and activities. She urged students and all concerned citizens to take part in these activities, which are meant to build awareness, bring about participatory involvement and to welcome innovative ideas and solutions to Shillong’s burgeoning garbage crisis.
Online competitions are planned for students of schools and colleges as part of the green campaign, details of which are available on www.shillongmypassion.in.
The first iteration of Shillong My Passion was launched by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in 2019. However, the Covid-19 pandemic brought it to a halt.
