The anti-ragging cell of Shillong College today organised an online awareness talk for the first students of Shillong College on the theme ‘Say No to Ragging’.
In his welcome address Shillong College vice principal K D Roy stated that the college has maintained a very clear stance on zero-tolerance towards ragging.
Principal of the college Dr. E Kharkongor said that the college, following UGC regulations and in accordance with the Supreme Court order, has constituted an anti-ragging cell to look into the welfare and safety of all the students of the college from various abuses tantamount to ragging.
The resource person, Nakilin G. Shylla who is a lawyer, deliberated on the topic and highlighted the need for the students to be aware of what constitutes ragging and what steps they could take to seek redressal.
She applauded the college for taking concrete steps to curb the menace of ragging in the institution and conducting such programmes to sensitise the students about their rights and more importantly about their duties to act responsibly to safeguard the honour and integrity of their fellow students.
Shylla also interacted with the students who posed questions to clarify their fears and doubts on the subject.
