Despite the notification by the State government to extend the 2020 academic session into 2021, some schools have already started the new academic session, a school teacher has alleged.
“Some of the schools have already started the courses for 2021-22. The students who are still continuing with their 2020 syllabus will thus be disadvantaged,” a school teacher, who did not want to be named, said.
Specifically, he said that those who will be disadvantaged are students who will be promoted to Class 10 in the 2021 academic session.
“Imagine the Class 10 students who have already started their 2021-2022 academic session. They will have a head start against those who are still taking Class 9 courses,” he said.
Last year, the state government fixed April 1, 2021 as the date for the commencement of the 2021-22 school year.
The final examination/assessment for 2020-21 will be from March 11 to March 20, the government announced.
To ensure continuous and minimum levels learning, the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) developed the Adjusted Academic Calendar (AAC) for Classes 9-10 in close consultation with school teachers and subject experts for 2020-21.
