The CAU-KVK South Garo Hills organised an interaction and distribution session for farmers under the benchmark survey programme at KVK campus recently.
A total of 30 farmers from five adopted villages in the Chokpot C&RD block participated in the event. During the session, ginger variety Nadia and turmeric variety Lakadong were distributed to the farmers to aid in their cultivation.
A technical session on the cultivation of ginger and turmeric was conducted by Basu Langpoklakpam, SMS (Horticulture), who provided valuable insights and guidance on best practices for successful farming of these crops.
Dr. Tanya R. Marak, SMS (Plant Protection) gave a talk on organic plant protection measures using biopesticides, focusing on safeguarding ginger and turmeric crops from pests and diseases, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr. Athokpam Haribhushan, Principal Scientist & Head emphasized that this initiative is aimed at improving agricultural practices and ensuring the sustainability of farming in the region.
