Senior lawyer of the Meghalaya High Court Vivan G. Kynta is likely to be the BJP candidate from Nongthymmai constituency here in the 2023 Assembly elections.
Kynta today joined the BJP at the meeting held in the party office here in the presence of Rituraj Sinha, National Secretary of the BJP, National Vice President M Chuba Ao, State BJP president Ernest Mawrie and party MLA Alexander L. Hek.
The senior lawyer had earlier said that he was planning to contest the 2023 polls although he did not indicate from which party he would be seeking a ticket.
Besides Kynta, others who joined the BJP and who are likely to be the party candidates in next year’s polls are former two-time MDC from Rongrong constituency Sukharam K. Sangma and former GHADC Chief Executive Member Dipul R. Marak.
Marak was the State vice president of NPP and co-chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board.
While Marak is likely to contest from Rangsakona constituency, Sukharam K. Sangma is likely to contest from Resubelpara constituency.
While joining the BJP today, the leaders expressed their trust in the leadership of Narendra Modi ji and said that they have experienced the pro-people policies of the BJP over the last eight years and the developmental progress made by neighbouring north-eastern states ruled by the BJP.
