As part of its year-long golden jubilee celebrations, Seng Khasi College organised the Inter-College Singing Competition here on Saturday.
The event witnessed the participation of 12 institutes – St Anthony’s, St Edmund’s, St Mary’s, Shillong Commerce College, Shillong College, BBS College, Martin Luther Christian University, Mawlai Presbyterian College, Umshyrpi College, Women’s College, Lady Keane College and Seng Khasi College.
The chief guest on the occasion was Silbi Passah, an accomplished individual in the field of traditional art, literature and music. The competition was also graced by the president of the governing body of Seng Khasi College, BS Rumnong, and the college principal, WB Rynjah.
In the solo category, Lurshai Nongrang of Seng Khasi College bagged first prize, with second place going to Venetia Warshong of St Anthony’s while Sweety Mary Lyngba of St Mary’s took home third prize.
The group category saw intense competition amongst the participating teams. Eventually, it was Shillong College who emerged as champions, with St Edmund’s the runners-up and St Mary’s third.
The competition was judged by three prominent Meghalaya musicians – Rudy Wallang, Hubert Malngiang and Adoryllene Sawian.
