Shillong, Aug 7: Residents of Selsella in West Garo Hills backed by the All Selsella NGOs’ Alliance have made arrangements to repair a PWD road, which is expected to be completed by August 15.
The dilapidated road filled with potholes has been a matter of concern for the residents who said that despite multiple representations and requests submitted to the concerned authorities, there has been no positive response or action taken by the government.
“We are deeply disappointment over the continued negligence of the government of Meghalaya regarding the dilapidated condition of the Selsella PWD Road,” the pressure group said.
“As responsible citizens and community organisations committed to public welfare, we can no longer wait in silence while commuters continue to suffer. Therefore, we have collectively decided to repair the Selsella PWD Road using our own resources. Contributions are being made by both NGOs and the public to fund this urgent repair work.”
The group said as a mark of responsibility and love for the country, repair works will be completed by Independence Day, August 15.
