Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been imposed along the National Highway 6 in East Jaiñtia Hills district to prevent further damage to the already deteriorated road.
According to the order passed by the district magistrate today, stones and boulders being transported by any vehicle must not exceed the height of the vehicle body as transporters must also ensure that no stones or boulders fall from the vehicle during transportation.
Besides a ban on overloading, all commercial and residential establishments along the NH-6 like car wash etc. must ensure that water does not flow onto the roads.
The Public Health Engineering (PHE) and other relevant departments have been directed to ensure that pipelines are regularly checked and promptly repaired in the event of any damage or explosion.
