The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides celebrated its Founder’s Day and ‘World Thinking Day’ here today.
The day commemorates the joint birthday of the founder of the movement, Robert Baden Powell and his wife Olave under the theme ‘Our World Our Thriving Future: The Environment and Global Poverty’.
TK Bamon, joint state secretary, was the chief guest and she emphasised the need of taking action in order to conserve and maintain the global environment for our future as members of the Scouting/Guiding family.
M Lyngdoh, assistant state training commissioner (Guides) attended the celebration as the guest of honour. A collection for the ‘World Thinking Day Fund’ was also carried out for which the amount collected will be sent to the national headquarters in New Delhi and will then go to WAGGGS’ (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) World Thinking Day Fund.
