Shillong, Aug 6: The Department of Sociology at Sankardev College in collaboration with the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSSE-Shillong) organised a one day sensitisation programme on ‘Understanding Disability: Confronting Stereotypes and Assisting Inclusion’ today.
Officials from the CRCSSE-Shillong, Ram Shakal Sahani, Director, Pranami Barua, Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychology and Smruti Suhagini Lenka, Clinical Assistant, Developmental Therapy, were the resource persons in the programme. The resource persons delivered talks on various issues surrounding disability and made the participants aware of measures and services to be rendered towards Persons with Disabilities to promote inclusivity.
The programme sensitised its participants on the need to foster empathy, respect and social inclusion for the disabled community, thereby creating space for a just and equitable society for all.
