A demonstration of sports shooting was conducted by the Shooting Association of Meghalaya (SAM) for students of the School and Center for Hearing Handicap at the Bethany Society campus in Laitumkhrah here today.
A total of 19 students attended the demonstration together with four of the SAM shooters.
SAM President, John F Kharshiing said nine students showed great potential even though it was the first time they were exposed to the indoor shooting sports.
He said the association is exploring the possibility of providing the physically disabled with training subject to recommendations by the school management and Principal and the possibility of their participating in para events and sports.
“It is for the first time that the Shooting Association of Meghalaya has taken this step to provide a sense of inclusiveness to the physically challenged,” he added.
