The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has launched the SAATHI Campaign-“Survey for Aadhaar and Access to Tracking & Holistic Inclusion” to provide legal identity and social welfare access to destitute children under Article 39 (c) and (f) of the Constitution.
The campaign aims to identify and assist children living on streets, in slums, railway stations, orphans without family support, abandoned children and those in unregistered child care homes who lack proper documentation particularly Aadhaar Cards which serve as a gateway to government benefits, education, health care and protection under various Child Welfare Laws.
Aadhar registration for such children will commence from June 27 at the office of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District during office hours with the registration set to continue till August 5, 2025.
The DLSA will also provide Legal Assistance in Birth Certificate applications, School Admission support, Connection to Welfare Schemes and Protection under Child Rights Laws.
Members of the public can participate in the campaign by reporting unregistered children at the office of the DLSA in Khliehriat, by volunteering for survey and camp assistance and by spreading community awareness on the campaign.
