The office of the District School Education Officer in East Jaiñtia Hills has decided to conduct a walk-in interview for the post of a Science teacher at Rymbai Government Secondary School, which remain vacant for at least a year.
This came after the education cell of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) and Jaiñtia National Council (JNC) made the discovery during an inspection last month.
The post of Science teacher remained vacant after the transfer of a teacher to another school.
Meanwhile, the KSU and JNC have appreciated the East Jaiñtia Hills Deputy Commissioner and the DSEO for taking up the matter and urged them to ensure that the interview, scheduled on October 27, should be held in clean and transparent manner.
The groups said authorities should also conduct regular check on availability of teachers in schools so that students are not affected.
