Under the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 election, authorities are undertaking checks and initiating seizures in the form of cash, alcohol, drugs and other items.
From March 16 to April 2, Rs 4.12 crore in cash and other items had been seized.
In an update today, Meghalaya’s Chief Electoral Officer informed that yesterday alone 3,776.59 litres of alcohol (valued at Rs 3.04 lakh) had been seized. In addition, 76,863 “other items” were also seized valued at Rs 68.74 lakh for a total value of Rs 71.79 lakh.
