The State government has sanctioned Rs 2.50 crore for construction of six community and rural development block offices and a cumulative amount of around Rs 120 crore for 40 blocks.
This was announced by Community and Rural Development Minister, Hamletson Dohling at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new office building of Mairang C&RD block today.
Dohling highlighted the achievements of the department with regards to the implementation of the MNREGS and the upsurge of the SHG movement in the State.
Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh spoke on the importance of the services rendered by the block office which bridges the connection between citizens with the government and its different departments since it is engaged with implementation of various state and central government schemes and programmes.
He also applauded the efforts of Dohling in facilitating the sanctioning of the construction project worth Rs 2.88 crore, whose construction would commence in due course of time.
Others who spoke during the programme were Water Resources Minister, H.B Nongsiej, Eastern West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner W. Nongsiej, Additional Deputy Commissioner C.P Mawkon and BDO Mairang C&RD Block, Dr. L. R Hynniewta.
