An amount of Rs 146.79 crore has been sanctioned for construction of new four-lane road and conversion of existing two-lane road into four-lane with cycling tracks, utility ducts, footpaths etc at the New Shillong Township.
The project has been sanctioned under Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) for the financial year 2022-23.
The PM-DevINE was announced as a new Central Sector Scheme in the Union Budget 2022-23.
The sanctioned road project for New Shillong Township is among eleven projects in the North East amounting to Rs 1503.44 crore that have been selected for sanction in 2022-23.
Since land is a State subject, compensation for acquisition of land is dealt by the state governments as per the relevant laws and rules.
