In order to address the problem of waste across Sohra, Royal Enfield, conducted a survey of the land at Mawkyrdup, Sohra, for the construction of a scientific waste recovery and waste treatment plant.
The project was pioneered by the Clean Sohra Campaign and East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner’s office last year and the detailed project report (DPR) was prepared by the Swach Bharat Gramin Meghalaya.
In the previous month, the DPR was sent to the Royal Enfield Eicher Group, the company sponsoring the expenses as per the DPR prepared by the Swach Bharat Gramin Meghalaya.
Representatives from Royal Enfield conducted in the presence of Alan West Kharkongor, the chairman of the Clean Sohra Campaign, and others.
Kharkongor said that the groups also desire to have a waste museum, flower and vegetable garden and the ‘Waste to Art Space’ in the area.
