To mark the beginning of the new Rotary Year, the Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong organised ‘Thung Dieng: For a Green & Sustainable Future’ at Eastern West Khasi Hills and planted 100 plum saplings.
Deputy Commissioner W Nongsiej graced the occasion as the chief guest along with Additional DC A Nongbri and other officers.
Nongsiej thanked the club for the initiative and assured that the saplings will be taken care of as they grow.
Devesh Walia, who took charge as the president of the club today, thanked the DC’s office for its support in the green initiative. He informed everyone that ‘Imagine Rotary’ is the Rotary International’s theme this Rotary Year 2022-23 and he said that it is high time that we take action on our dreams and pledge for a sustainable future for all.
Club vice-president Vivek Kumar said that protecting the environment is our collective responsibility and we must join our hands together for the green cause.
