Nongpoh, Mar 30: The Ri-Tyngkai festival, 2026 concluded successfully on a vibrant and peaceful note, reaffirming its commitment to promoting and nurturing the talents of young people.
The festival, an initiative of Hid Foundation Shillong in collaboration with Seng Samla Shnong, Mawlong, Ri-Bhoi District, aims to provide a dynamic platform for rural youth and children to showcase their abilities across diverse fields.
A major highlight of the festival was a panel discussion on ‘Social Needs and Youth Empowerment,’ where speakers stressed the importance of community participation in empowering young people and addressing social challenges.
The talent show segment drew enthusiastic participation, with more than 20 groups and individual performers showcasing their skills.
In the talent show, Wanborlang Mawphniang secured the first prize, followed by Teideplut Marsing in second place, while Ribamon Rynshon claimed the third position.
The opening ceremony was attended by member of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights JS D. Maiong, who is also the CEO of Hid Foundation, Plielad Tiewsoh, Chairman of the Ri-Bhoi Tourism Development Forum, rangbah shnongs as well as women and youth leaders from the region.
The evening session was attended by KHADC MDC Rona Khymdeit and other guests.
