The line-up of the finals of the three age categories of the State Level Subroto Cup 2025 football tournament was decided today following the conclusion of the semifinals fixtures.
All the semifinals were held in the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here, which will also be the venue for Saturday’s finals.
In the U-15 boys’ category, Mawtneng Upper Primary and Secondary School of Ri-Bhoi pipped Assam Rifles Public School of East Khasi Hills 1-0 through a 13th minute goal by Malong Bey.
Then, Government Boys Higher Secondary School of West Jaintia Hills defeated Little Star English Medium Secondary School of Eastern West Khasi Hills 2-0 with the scorers being Elvinson Lyngdoh (32′) and Samewan Lytan (47′).
In the U-17 girls’ division both semis finished 1-0. Nongjri Presbyterian SS of Ri-Bhoi triumphed over North Liberty HSS of WJH through Rimika Khongkai (40′), while Tyrsad HSS of EKH were victorious over Lotus SS of East Jaintia Hills with Balabet Khongsit (60’+14) providing the winning goal.
More goals flowed in the U-17 boys’ semifinal matches, with North Liberty cruising to a 3-0 win against Bajengdoba HSS of North Garo Hills via Nambor Lamat (15′), Iaisanlang Dohling (31′) and Erickson Dohling (64′).
Nongjri Presbyterian then overcame Wapung HSS of EJH 2-1. Emerson Ryngkhlem (51′) and Badonlang Syngkli (84′) scored for the Ri-Bhoi team on either side of Rooneybert Dkhar’s 56th minute goal for the school from EJH.
