There has been much celebration at the Ms AW Thomas Secondary School in rural Umlangpur Kiling in Ri-Bhoi, which secured a 100 percent pass rate in this year’s SSLC examination, the results of which were declared on Saturday.
Sixteen students of the school sat the exam for the Class 10 board exams and all of them passed, with several of them narrowly missing out on the Top 20 merit list.
This achievement prompted the school managing committee (SMC) to honour the successful students, especially those who secured first and second division results. Many earned letter marks in various subjects, with some even receiving letters in four to five subjects.
School headmistress Onita Sad specifically recognised and felicitated Felisha Bandara, who secured the highest rank among the students along with five letter marks.
S Sylhe, the president of the SMC, and teaching staff collectively expressed immense pride and happiness at the students’ performance. They acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the students, which has brought honour to a school that is situated in a remote border area and which was previously little known to the public.
