he District Magistrate of Ri-Bhoi District, exercising authority under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, has today issued a formal order warning landowners and individuals against obstructing the ongoing construction of the Shillong Western Bypass.
This order follows a report submitted by NHIDCL-PMU Mylliem, East Khasi Hills District, which highlighted that certain landowners have been causing disruptions to the construction of the Shillong Western Bypass in Nongkyndong village, Ri-Bhoi.
The District Magistrate clarified that compensation for the land affected by the construction of the Shillong Bypass Road has already been fully disbursed. Therefore, the areas where the road is being constructed are now government-owned land. As such, those who have already received compensation no longer have any rights to interfere with the construction work, which must proceed without interruption.
Consequently, the District Magistrate has sternly warned that any individuals or landowners obstructing the ongoing work on the Shillong Western Bypass Road will face legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
