The Ri-Bhoi unit of the Khasi Student Union (KSU) today presented the 2nd Sylvanus Sngi Lyngdoh Maitshaphrang Academic Excellence Awards 2022-23 to 75 students who successfully passed their SSLC, HSSLC, degree, and PhD examinations.
As a mark of respect on the 188th death anniversary of freedom fighter U Tirot Sing Syiem, the KSU members observed a minute’s silence during the ceremony.
Distinguished attendees included Albert Sngi Lyngdoh, relative of the late Fr Sngi.
KSU leaders expressed their delight in witnessing the academic excellence of students from Ri-Bhoi, particularly the remarkable achievements of those who secured positions in the top 20 lists of their respective examinations.
They also highlighted the stories and dedication of the state’s departed leaders who made significant sacrifices for the betterment and welfare of Meghalaya and its people, such as the revered warrior Tirot Sing and the late Fr Sngi. The leaders urged the students to strive for greatness in life and be prepared to shoulder the responsibility of the state’s welfare.
